I'm trying to stop using Amazon because of their shitty worker practices and general treatment of the Seattle area, but there really don't seem to be any viable online alternatives out there for stuff other than books or electronics. Doesn't seem like an improvement to order from Walmart instead.

@hellamander i think a question would be are warehouse workers treated much different elsewhere? For example, people who load and unload fedex crates work under pretty stressful conditions

@maxx the shipping workers I know have never described their work environment in ways that seem to be as strict and stressful as Amazon, but, true, Amazon probably doesn't have a monopoly on shitty logistics positions

@hellamander yeah, it’s like are you trading apples for apples that aren’t able to deliver you a 12-pack of planters cheez balls and a Chance XL

Welp, I tried ordering something from somewhere other than Amazon (eBay seller), and look what showed up

@hellamander I wonder why they sent it with a gift receipt. They ordered it from amazon for cheaper than they posted it on eBay and had it sent direct to you?

@maxx Maybe? My guess was that they're primarily an Amazon seller with an eBay presence, but Amazon does their inventory and shipping. The gift thing might be a way to hide that from Amazon?
